KINGLAKE WEATHER STATION
INFORMATION
The Kinglake APRS Weather (WX) Station
commenced operation on 00:00 September 24, 2006, taking continuous readings every
30 to 5 seconds to record min & max values and observational readings on the hour (00:00)
and half-hour (00:30) of Wind Speed, Direction, Gusts, Wind Chill, Temp, Dew
Point, Relative Humidity, Barometric Pressure and Rainfall. This information
is sent from the Weather Station to a computer and is also transmitted live
via the Amateur Radio
APRS Packet Network to VHF radio repeaters in Yea
(VK3RMG-1),
Melbourne (VK3MY-2) and Alexandra (VK3RAD-1). The Live Data & Recent WX Data is provided via
Amateur Radio to the internet on 145.175MHz FM and the monthly statistics
are from the data files created by the Weather Station. I have strived, as
much as
possible, to keep the data in the same format as the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.
In the USA, the same system used in Kinglake (APRS WX Station) is used to
report weather to their government's national weather agency NOAA and forms
part of the US Weather Watch network for Hurricane Warnings, and as our
Weather Bureau and the USA's NOAA follow World Meteorological Organisation
standards, the Kinglake Weather Station complies with these standards and
provides real-time readings of the current conditions on the "Ganglehoff
Hill" area of Kinglake, Victoria, Australia, 3763. Data prior to
September 24, 2006 is from the Bureau of Meteorology, Melbourne Water (MMBW)
old written records or acknowledged separately where used. This site and
weather data is provided as a not-for-profit community service to Kinglake
residents, as per Amateur Radio Regulations. (ITU).
